Too bad Playmates stopped producing Star Trek figures before the fifth live-action show went on air. As a huge fan of Enterprise, I had to do something about the lack of 4.5" figures from that show.
I spent some time in L.A. in 2012 and acquired the 7" Art Asylum/Diamond Select Toys produced figures while I was there. They are a lot more expensive in Germany. When I got back home, I ordered a material called Hydrospan Contracting and some moulding and casting materials and tools. After some trial-and-error (you don't wanna know how much money I spent until all problems got sorted out), I was finally able to "shrink" the Diamond Select heads to my preferred 4.5" size.
As for the bodies, I used existing 4.5" bodies and modified them. For Archer, Tucker, Reed, Sato and Mayweather, I used the bodies from Playmates' SeaQuest DSV line. The uniforms already had a "baggy" look to them, and they were different from the other Star Trek figures. I like to have some variety...
Archer and Mayweather were made of a Commander Ford-body, for Tucker I used O'Neill's body, Reed was made of a Bridger-body, and Hoshi was, of course, made of a Hitchcock-body. I re-sculpted the pockets and zippers with apoxie and printed the mission patch on decal paper.
For T'Pol I used the body of a spare Uhura figure from The Motion Picture. After sanding and re-sculpting, I painted her in several layers to match T'Pol's first and second season uniform.
Dr. Phlox is made from a spare Professor Data figure from All Good Things. I added the collar, a little belly and the pockets. He was pretty easy to make and turned out extremely well.
I'm working on a few more Enterprise customs, for example Admiral Forrest and Shran, so stay tuned.
Here we have 6 crewmembers of the NX-01.
From left: Dr. Who Jack Harkness-head on Ford-body with Crocker-legs, Ilia-head and Dax-body, The Walking Dead Andrea-head on a Seska-body, Primeval Stephen Hart-head on O'Neill-body, re-sculpted Chakotay, re-sculpted Generations LaForge.
There's more to come.
The Vulcan ambassador was made using a repainted Sarek-body and resculpted Q-head. The ears were sliced off and replaced with ears from a spare Spock-head.
The Vulcan captain is a TMP-Sulu with the details sanded off. The head was made from a Mirror-Spock-head (the upper part and ears) and a Sulu-head (mouth and jaw).
This generic Denobulan was made from a Kirk-head and a repainted Garak-body.
One of my favorite story arcs from Enterprise's final season is the story about the Augments. And one of the main reasons this three-parter was so good was definitely Brent Spiner's performance as Arik Soong. One could see the fun he had playing the antagonist to Bakula's Captain Archer.
This figure was made from a SeaQuest Lucas torso and Bridger legs. I tried to age the Data head a little and resculpted the hair. Then I gave the whole figure a repaint and there you go.
Imagine we would have gotten a 5th season of Enterprise dealing with the beginning of the Romulan war...
For this Romulan I used a SeaQuest Bridger head and dremeled off his hair and ears. Then I glued Spock ears on him and sculpted the forehead and hair.
The body is a repainted Data as Romulan.
Watch out for this guy, he might be dangerous.
This fellow does look good, doesn't he? But who could he be..?
I used a Dr. Who The Master head. The body is a Picard as a Romulan with Dr. Soong arms. The sleeves were sculpted with Apoxie.
